Harry Potter!

So, I'm gonna go be a nerd in a little while and go to Walmart to buy my copy of the new Harry Potter novel. I hope there's a line of HP nerds. Boy howdy.

Um. Reply by telling me how you'd describe me to someone that's never met me. Be as brutally honest as you want. Also, I'm expecting some sarcasm here...so make it entertaining.

I got my copy! I was just reading it on the john!

I went with a couple of my friends and we stood in a relatively short line (well, short for us...there were at least a hundred people behind us). In what was nearly a peak of nerdiness, I came this (_______) close to asking out this cute girl in line ahead of me, who was laughing at all my jokes. I find girls who find me funny attractive.

I was totally going to drop some of my pick-up lines, a la, "Hi. According to Megan's Law, I'm required to tell you that I'm a registered sex offender, but besides that I have to drive to a friend's wedding in Ohio tomorrow and was wondering if you might be my date. No? Okay. Well, hold on. Does this smell like chloroform to you?"

--------

I usually describe you to friends by telling the story about your Wal-Mart perm.

It's hard not to talk about you, you know...like, all the time.

The postman brought my copy to my door this morning. I'm in the middle of "Lamb" at the moment so I guess my wife and kid will get to read it before I do.

I wouldn't describe you to someone who has never met you. That would take time away from describing me.

You fail at Livejournal.

Luckily, you're the only LJ friend of mine that has a wife and kid, m'thinks, so I automatically knew it was you.

I am in the same boat as Benito. If I tell anyone about you, I usually start by "my friend Matty from Wisconsin" followed by any pertinent info (like if I was supposed to draw something for you, or that you brought Chimpoleon to the world), followed by the dance-off story, the perm and any links that I might know off-hand (x-mas perm, convention adventures) and maybe a copy of "Roastin' Rocks" if they're that good of a friend.

I waited paitently for UPS to deliver it as I checked my amazon account for tracking info. In the afternoon I got my mail from the mailbox and the Postal System left me a note saying I could pick it up on Monday.

The fuck?

I don't read Harry Potter. But my comics finally arrived yesterday. So there!

About Harry Potter: I'll be waiting for the audiobook. The guy that reads those is amazing.

Also, if you can get into an audiobook (or just a fantasy book in particular), the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books by George R.R. Martin are spectacular. Roy Dotrice is every bit as good as Jim Dale (the Harry Potter reader, who is amazing), if not better for the lack of post-production assist (echos and ambience).

New

Just came across your LJ and it's great! Very funny. I liked your comments to the pictures the kids drew.

Re: New

Whoa, weird.

I'm not used to people that I don't know reading my LJ. Not that I mind at all, if you get any enjoyment at all outta reading it, please do, but it's just weird.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you come upon my LJ?

Re: New

I just became a paid member of LJ and was testing out one of the paid benefits of "searching LJs". I came across yours and started reading.

Don't worry, I'm not that weird. :)

I only really say anything remotely related to this universe in passing to my wife. It's annoying sometimes because I don't really even know most of you guys. But, I did tell the break-dancing at the Wizard Con story, and I wasn't even there. That's how I describe you, the Break Dancing Guy with the Fat Suit.

Doesn't come up often.
